themepark: MAPS in Perak, Malaysia

Assalamualaikum :)

Going straight to the point. Yesterday, my family and I went to Movie Animation Park Studios in Ipoh, Perak.

So here are 10 things you should know before going there.

1. Buy the ticket when they are having promotions.

We went during the Merdeka Promo which valids from 18th August until 16th September 2018. For weekdays, it is going to be only RM50 for adult/ child/ senior citizen. Meanwhile, for the weekends it is going to be RM61 for all-day pass. There is also an evening pass which you can get for only RM35 during this promo. More info on the website.

2. I suggest you buy the ticket online.

We tried to buy the ticket on the counter a day earlier since we passed by the park. Unfortunately, people can only buy the walk-in ticket and can't buy tickets for another day. We also went one hour earlier to buy the tickets but it opens exactly at 10AM. The theme park opens from 10 to 10 during weekends and public holidays.

3. The weather is going to be so hot.

Because this is Malaysia after all. Make sure you bring caps and portable fans. It is going to be so helpful especially during the afternoon. Since you can't bring foods and drinks inside, buy at least 2 bottles of mineral water to survive till afternoon. Don't forget to wear sunscreen to protect your exposed skin.

4. Go to the thrill rides first.

There are only 4 thrill rides in the park. These rides close at 6PM so be sure to ride it as many times as possible. If you get the evening pass ticket that valids only from 5PM onwards, all the more reason to go to these rides first. My personal favourites are the Space X-plorers followed closely by Asteroid Attacks.

5. South-east Asia's First Car & Bike Live's Stunt Show.

There were 3 showtimes (2.30PM, 4.30PM, 7.00PM) and there would be so many people during the first showtime. We went to the second one since we would be in a rush if we wanted to catch the first one. It was empty except for several families. I would suggest going to the second or third showtime for people who don't like crowded places (like me).

6. The perks of going to a local theme park; the foods are delicious.

We went to the Spaceship Restaurant which was so cool. The foods are very affordable and not over-priced like foods in theme parks would usually be. You can get an ala-carte Chicken Chop for the price of not more than RM10. But I would not suggest the Nasi Briyani set as the rice contains too much spices. On the other side, I can give two thumbs up for the western dishes.

7. The facilities are comfortable.

The surau and toilet are at the entrance and opposite of the information counter. They were very comfortable and clean.

8. Personal favourite attractions.

Mine would be the 4D Boboiboy Adventure Theatre. Make sure to go at least 5 minutes before the showtime as it will not allow any entry after it starts. You should also go to the infamous Tok Aba Kokotiam. I read reviews that the most recommended drink is Tok Aba's Hot Chocolate but unfortunately we didn't get to taste it since it was out of stock when we were there. Quite disappointing actually. There were also a small part of the theme park that is under construction. Takde rezeki.

9. No re-entry.

I am not sure about this since we never attempted a re-entry. But when we went out at 6.30PM (because we were too tired), there was a signboard 'No Re-entry'. Make sure you bring all the necessities before going in and double-check your things inside your bags.

10. Conclusion.

I would suggest you go to this local theme park when they are having promotion ticket (as in, now!) to support our country. I have been to several theme parks such as Universal Studios, Disneyland and Legoland. Compared to others, I would give MAPS a rank of 6.5/10.
